Help us make a difference

With your help, we can make a huge difference in the lives of black survivors. DONATE TODAY!

We Need Your Help!

Since the pandemic began, Black Women In Motion designed a COVID-19 Emergency Assistance plan, to provide immediate support to Black women, non-binary and gender-non-conforming survivors across the GTA. In 2020, we supported over 450+ Black women and queer survivors, by delivering urgent financial assistance, fresh food boxes, mental health supports and household items.

What we need

There are many ways to support Black Women in Motion. From fundraising on our behalf, volunteering, or making a donation, here are a few ways on how you can support us in making a difference.

Our mandate is to amplify and promote the voices, experiences and needs of Black Womxn living in the City of Toronto, by strengthening relationships with black communities and improving educational and socio-economic conditions.

EDUCATION

Our extensive education program includes our weekly workshops centred on dismantling rape culture as well as a growing focus on providing professional development courses and trainings to empower our community in finding long-term employment. Your donations can go towards providing professional industry-recognized certifications for a number of our black youth looking to get into the work force (i.e. Hootsuite social management certifications, Data Analytics courses, etc.); donating new or gently used tech equipment to our Hardware donation drive; paid internship opportunities; & more.

FUNDRAISING

Interested in hosting a fundraiser on our behalf? Here’s everything you need to host the event:

  • A signed agreement stating your donation intentions and understanding of BWIM's values and mission

  • social media handles

  • Asset approval process

  • Donation process (how will you be making the donation)

We have a Charity Village page! Email us the details and we’ll let you know how you can help.

WELLNESS

Recognizing that the wellness sector has historically been exclusionary and white-centered, the Crystals & Sage program provides youth the opportunity to not only see themselves represented in the yoga spaces, but to have access to training and support led by Black Healers, Practitioners, and Therapists.

With your support, our aim is to help 50+ black womxn annually in receiving yoga teacher certifications. At the moment, we are seeking a partnership with an accredited Yoga Alliance studio to ensure participants who wish to take their practice a little further can find employment post-covid (Ideally 10 accredited yoga certifications given out at the end of each cycle).

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP

There are tons of ways we like to work with our corporate partners. From TikTok, to Clorox, to P&G, we’ve had the pleasure of creating impactful, and creative work with our corporate partners. Long-term financial commitments are how we’re able to make the impact we do! Consider becoming an official event or program sponsor, or hiring a member of our team to support in providing your staff with diversity and anti-racism training.

A key focus for us in creating empowering opportunities for our participants is to commit to job or paid internship placements for select and eligible participants. Interested contact us to learn more about how you can be the change.
